Wysong Earns First Pick at Initial Number Ceremony

On August 1, the University of New Mexico’s football program celebrated a milestone event with wide receiver Luke Wysong earning the distinction of being the first pick in the initial number ceremony. This event, a new tradition for the Lobos, highlights the significance of jersey numbers, symbolizing a player’s hard work, dedication, and impact on the team. Wysong’s selection by the leadership committee underscores his leadership qualities and the respect he has garnered from both coaches and teammates. The ceremony is designed to motivate players and build a stronger sense of unity and pride within the team, setting a positive tone as they prepare for the upcoming season.

When faced with his pick of numbers, Wysong opted to continue wearing number 15, as he has in the past.

Wysong and Medford Named to Watch Lists

In another testament to their prowess on the field, Luke Wysong and teammate Caleb Medford have been named to prestigious watch lists, further spotlighting their talents. Josh Kerr Finishes with Silver in Olympic 1500m Final

Former Lobo standout Josh Kerr delivered a remarkable performance on the global stage, securing a silver medal in the Olympic 1500m final. Competing in a highly competitive field, Kerr showcased his exceptional athleticism and strategic racing acumen. His achievement not only brings pride to the University of New Mexico but also cements his status as one of the premier middle-distance runners in the world. Kerr’s medal makes him the first Lobo Track & Field alum to medal in two different Olympics, and improved upon his spot from the Tokyo Olympics where he finished third.

In Paris, Kerr finished second, clocking in at 3:27.79, only .14 behind the gold medalist, Cole Hocker.
