Starting pitcher Kenta Maeda left Tuesday’s start against the Phillies early with pain in his right hip. An MRI taken by team doctors on Wednesday confirmed a hip strain and the Dodgers promptly placed Maeda on the 10-day disabled list.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters that he does not know how long Maeda will need to recover from the injury, implying that a lengthy stay on the disabled list is a possibility.
Maeda, a 30-year old veteran from Tadaoka, Japan, is 4-4 on the season in 10 starts, with a 3.38 ERA and 68 strikes and 18 walks in 52.1 innings of work.
